Privado ID Enables Unified Identity: Every Chain, Any Device

The Internet was never built with an identity layer in mind, which has led to poor experiences for users interacting with fragmented data in multiple apps and devices. This problem particularly affects Web3, where blockchain protocols have traditionally existed as data silos, limiting interoperability and slowing down the flow of both data and liquidity.

As applications and protocols struggle with this fragmentation, the widespread adoption of Web3 has faced significant challenges. In the real world, people and businesses interact with multiple service providers and multiple devices over the course of their lifetimes. The same is true of onchain apps and protocols. We have a very practical approach to identity: we make it easier to prove things about yourself and unlock value anywhere, in a secure, discreet manner.

In pursuit of solving this fragmentation challenge, Privado ID is excited to announce a new product release that establishes Privado ID as the first chain-agnostic protocol to deliver multichain, and multidevice unified identity: users collect credentials once and can reuse them across any blockchain from any device.

Verify Your Identity Once, Prove It Anywhere: Unlocking Onchain Verifications at Any EVM Chain!

With Release 8, credential issuers, users (identity holders), and verifiers can now operate seamlessly on different chains. This advancement brings significant advantages to users, dApps (developers) and protocols:

  • Verify once, use everywhere: Users can verify their identity just once and seamlessly reuse it across any EVM-compatible chain. Users no longer need to concern themselves with the specific chain they are interacting with. For instance, a user might obtain a Proof of Uniqueness (PoU) credential during an on-chain attestation to the Verax/Linea registry. Later, this PoU credential can be reused on any other EVM-compatible chain without the need for repeated verifications.
  • Simplified Development: dApp and on-chain verification developers no longer need to worry about which chain the credential was issued on or where the user maintains their identity state.
  • Faster, multi-device onboarding: The reusability of credentials across any protocol or application results in faster, smoother onboarding experiences for users and better conversion rates for dApps.
  • More verified data: Protocols and dApps will have access to more verified data as users carry their identity across different protocols and applications.
  • Attractive value for protocols: By providing an integrated identity layer, protocols can attract more dApps, offering them the ability to leverage a unified identity system that benefits both the app developers and their users.

At the time of launching Release 8 in October 2024, onchain verification was already available on several chains, including Linea, Polygon PoS, Polygon zkEVM and Ethereum and forthcoming EVM and non-EVM are scheduled for deployment in the coming months.

If you are a developer aiming to verify onchain please refer to this documentation.

Multidevice Experience with the New Privado ID Mobile App and the Upgraded Privado ID Web Wallet!

In the latest release, significant improvements were made to enhancing digital identity management with the launch of our Privado ID Web Wallet. This innovative feature brought faster, zero-install Identity Verification for dApps, making the user experience more seamless and efficient.

With the latest update, Privado ID is not only enhancing the Web Wallet by allowing users to view credentials directly within the platform. This also means taking a bold step forward in the multidevice experience with the launch of the all-new Privado ID Wallet App. With seamless synchronization between the app and the Web Wallet, this update delivers a fully integrated and unified identity management solution across all your devices.

Transition From Polygon ID App to the New Privado ID Wallet App: What You Need to Know

As the new Privado ID Wallet App with enhanced features is introduced, support for the previous Polygon ID App will be phased out by the end of the year.

To continue enjoying secure access to your credentials, you'll need either to keep your existing Polygon ID wallet app or to reissue the credentials under the new Privado ID Wallet, as they won't automatically migrate from the Polygon ID Wallet. Your cooperation during this transition is greatly appreciated, and the Privado ID support team is here to assist you every step of the way.

Thank you for being part of this journey toward a more unified digital identity.

Improvements for Issuers: Multichain Support and API Unification

To fully support the multichain experience, not just for users but also for credential issuers, the Privado ID team has made significant improvements to the issuer node. These updates enable multichain support and unify the APIs, making it easier for issuers to manage and distribute credentials across multiple blockchain networks.

If you need to migrate to the newer version of the Issuer Node which includes the new unified API please refer to the developer documentation.

Additional Enhancements

In addition to the unified multichain and multidevice experience, this Release includes numerous other enhancements, which you can find at the release notes.

What is Next?

Release 8 marks a significant milestone in Privado ID's journey to becoming the identity protocol of the internet. In the coming months, we’ll be sharing exciting updates that will bring us even closer to this vision, with a particular focus on advancing our multichain verification capabilities.
